Air conditioning

90% of all new cars have air conditioning. Make sure you have it serviced regularly. Otherwise, it could break down, consume more fuel or lead to uncomfortable smells in the car.

What are the advantages of air conditioning?

We don’t need to explain the comfort of stepping into a cool car when it’s sizzling hot outside. But studies have shown that it is also safer. Drivers driving a car equipped with air conditioning and running at a comfortable temperature, react more quickly and better. Its filter also contributes to a better air quality in the car, as it stops pollen and dust. In wintertime, you can use it to quickly demist your windscreen.

Why do I need to have my air conditioning checked?

You need to have it checked to prevent it from breaking down completely, which represents a considerable cost. An air conditioning system that doesn’t work properly, also leads to higher fuel consumption or can cause an uncomfortable smell in the car. There are two types of services: the yearly smaller check-up and the biannual service.

How often should I have it checked?

We advise you to make sure you have it disinfected once a year. You should also have the filter changed on an annual basis and have it thoroughly serviced once every two years. This will avoid high repair costs of the whole system and prevent it from breaking down completely,
•recharge your air conditioning system approximately every 20,000 km or every 2 years,
•replace the cabin filter at each reload of your air conditioning system,

contact the nearest Motorcare Service Centre for more information and tips.

Why should I use air conditioning in the winter?

Two reasons. First, you save time in the morning as it will quickly demist your windscreen. Secondly, regularly turning it on for about 10 minutes, will guarantee the long life of the system.

What can I do myself to protect the air conditioning system?

The best thing you can do to help your air conditioning system, is to respect check-up times.

In order to avoid fungi or bacteria, we advise you to turn off the air conditioning about five minutes before stopping your car. Leave the ventilator turned on. As a result, the evaporator will be completely dry, making it unattractive for fungi and bacteria
